This week, we’ll be catching up on the news about cigars and cigar lovers, plus we have some Labor Day sales to check out. Also, does anyone really want an electric cigar?

Happy Labor Day

Labor Day weekend is a great time for cookouts, trips to the beach and big sales. We’ve found a couple of interest to cigar lovers who feel like adding to their collections.

First, Philadelphia area cigar distributor Holt’s Cigar Company is hosting a Weekend Roast special with great prices on some popular premium cigars. Arturo Fuente is one of the top cigar brands made in the Dominican Republic, and this weekend Holt’s is offering their Hemingway for $5.60 each when you buy a box of 50. Plus, you can get aged La Aurora Vintage cigars for just $1.59 each. Shipping is free on all orders placed between 12 pm Friday and 12 pm Monday.

Gurkha

There are also some cool Labor Days deals going on at GothamCigars.com, which is now running a special offer on Gurkha’s Rogue and Prize Fighter. For a limited time, you can get a free Gurkha Calcutta Metal Works Dual Blade Cutter, retail price $59.99, with any purchase of a Gurkha Rogue Box. The Rogue is available in the 5 1/2 x 46 Rascal, 5 x 52 Tyrant, 6 x 54 Ruthless, 6 x 60 Bamboozle and 6 x 66 Armageddon, all selling at $101 for a box of 20.

Also on sale are smokes from Gurkha’s Prize Fighter line in 6 x 54 Toro and 6 x 60 XO at just $37.74 for a bundle of 20, or $1.80 each. These deals are good until the end of August, which is Saturday.

Meet the Gran Bully

There’s a new bully in town to watch out for, since Romeo by Romeo y Julieta has just brought out a new Special Edition cigar called the Gran Bully. A parejo measuring 6 inches long by 60 ring gauge, the Gran Bully has an Ecuadoran wrapper with Dominican filler and binder. These big, bold cigars will sell for about $12.50 each, and since this is a Special Edition, only 6,000 individually numbered 10-count boxes will be produced.

Coming up next the battle to stop teens and underage smokers from getting their hands on tobacco keeps rolling on.  Do you have any guesses on how these products are being marketed that has many in the anti-smoking camp up in arms?
