It's Monday, and time to kick off the week with some more cigar news. Today's news has a theme centered on Miami Cigar & Company. We will first discuss some changes within the company that are coming next year, as well as a new cigar release from one of its brands that has a New York theme.
Miami Cigar & Company sees some changes
Miami Cigar & Company's Nestor Miranda promised that there would be plenty of changes in store for the South Florida based company in 2011. As somewhat of a preview of this promise, Rene J. Castaneda, Vice President of Miami Cigar, recently announced that he would hand over the responsibilities of the National Sales Management portfolio to Hector Paz. This move will be the first of the upcoming year for Miami Cigar, as it is set to take effect immediately on January 1, 2011.
Castaneda's handing over of the National Sales Management portfolio to Paz will allow him to concentrate on the company's international sales. Besides international sales, Castaneda will also focus on Miami Cigar's departments of business and product development. Although some within the industry felt that the announcement hinted at Castaneda's departure, he stated that it was done simply to allow him to focus on other aspects of the company. Considering just how time consuming sales can be, the luxury of handing over national sales to a person such as Paz is a nice one to have.
Paz has been with Miami Cigar for over ten years, and he started his career there in 1999 holding the title of Operations Manager. When Paz accepted his position as Operations Manager, he did so following the trail set by Castaneda, making this the second time that the two will exchange duties. Besides being the company's Operations Manager, Paz also aided in helping to spread Miami Cigar's exposure nationwide by selling its cigars and networking on the road. His most recent post with the company was as its Regional Sales Director for Florida.
When Paz takes control of the National Sales Management portfolio on January 1, one of his main responsibilities will be to expand Miami Cigar's sales across the United States. As stated, Paz has some previous experience in this arena, and it should help both him and the company expand its reach.
