It's Monday, and we will kick off the week by discussing a couple of new cigar releases from Arturo Fuente and Jameson. To wrap things up, we'll preview the Cigars and Guitars event in Florida and detail the expansion efforts of Drapers, one of the country's oldest tobacconists.
New Release – Arturo Fuente Anejo Reserva No. 60
Fans of the Arturo Fuente Anejo line have a new size to look forward to, as the Fuente family has decided to add the Reserva No. 60 to its lineup. The fact that the Reserva No. 60 was created is a bit of a surprise considering that it's the first new release from Fuente in several years. The No. 60, which measures 6 ¼ x 48, was developed in an effort to capitalize of the popularity of the Fuente Fuente OpusX PerfecXion X. The PerfecXion X measures 6 ¼ x 48 as well, and it happens to be the most requested size in the Opus X line. By releasing the Reserva No. 60, the Fuente family hopes that some of the PerfecXion X's success will carry over to the Anejo.
Another reason why the Reserva No. 60's release is surprising is that it comes so late. After all, the Anejo line was created in 2000. Besides the No. 60, the Anejo comes in six other sizes, including the 5 ¼ x 50 No. 50, the 5 5/8 x 46 No. 46, the 5 7/8 x 64 Shark, the 6 x 55 No. 55, the 7 x 48 No. 48, and the 7 5/8 x 49 No. 49. The line features a Dominican filler and binder, as well as a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper that has been aged in cognac barrels. In terms of strength, the Anejo is said to be full-bodied.
Although the success of the Reserva No. 60 remains to be seen, it will probably garner a good amount of interest for the simple fact that it shares sizes with the PerfecXion X. Expect to pay somewhere in the neighborhood of $13 per single. It can also be found in boxes of 25. Like other vitolas in the line, the Reserva No. 60 will likely be limited in supply because the Anejo is usually distributed to retailers only around Father's Day and Christmas.
