Viaje releases two new additions

Viaje's distinction as a boutique brand has not stopped it from becoming a hot item amongst cigar smokers. To keep the fire burning, the company announced the addition of two new cigars to its lineup: the Viaje Platino Reserva Double Torpedo, or VPR DT, and the Viaje Oro Reserva Double Torpedo, or VOR DT.

Both cigars measure 5 3/4 x 52 and feature Nicaraguan tobaccos. The Platino Reserva and Oro Reserva lines were previously offered in seven sizes, making the Double Torpedo the eighth for both. The cigars retail for $11.60 each and tend to sell rather quickly. While Viaje planned on making the Double Torpedoes a limited release, they are now planned for regular production. So, if you find yourself out of luck when it comes to picking up one of these stogies, don't worry.

Drew Estate welcomes Willy Herrera

Willy Herrera is now a part of a new team, as he has decided to leave El Titan de Bronze and join Drew Estate. Herrera was the head blender and cigar maker for El Titan de Bronze, where he oversaw production at the company's factor in Little Havana for six years. Herrera is expected to carry essentially the same duties with Drew Estate via their factory in Esteli, Nicaragua.

Herrera's traditional style mixed with Drew Estate's innovative vibe should make for some interesting blends in the future. Herrera described the reasons behind his decision to make the move to Jonathan Drew's team in the official press release: “First and most importantly, I've known Jonathan for a number of years and separate of business, we have become good friends. I have long admired his approach and innovative style and I feel that we can combine Drew Estate’s sense of style and fresh new ideas with my old school, traditional Cuban way of making cigars. Their factory is amazing and more so their production team is top flight. Plus, DE has deep inventories of exceptional tobacco and great relationships with all the top growers which will afford me the opportunity to have at-will access to amazing leaf.”
