Official dates for 2011 Big Smoke events are revealed
The dates for Cigar Aficionado's 2011 Big Smoke events in New York and Las Vegas have finally been released. Past Big Smoke events have offered cigar lovers the opportunity to celebrate their hobby with others, and the newest upcoming editions promise to continue the tradition.
Big Smoke Las Vegas will take place on October 28-30 at the Venetian Hotel and Casino. The Venetian will be familiar for many past attendees of the event, as it has been the Big Smoke's venue of choice for the last six years. Big Smoke New York will take place on November 30. For the second year in a row, the New York edition will take place on the Hudson River at the Pier 92 events center. Both events promise plenty of food, drinks, and cigar-related fun. Tickets go on sale on April 15.
Nicaraguan Cigar Festival kicks off in April

Sticking with the topic of travel, Nicaragua is hosting a big cigar festival in April that should attract cigar fans from all over the world. Appropriately enough, it's called the Nicaraguan Cigar Festival, and it takes place in the tobacco-rich Central American nation from April 5th to 8th.
This year's Nicaraguan Cigar Festival carries the theme of “Sensaciones de mi tierra,” which translates to “Sensations of my country.” The festival will offer its participants plenty of cigar-themed events, as well as some that relate to Nicaragua's culture and natural resources.
The itinerary begins on Tuesday, April 5th, with a welcome cocktail dinner in Managua. Wednesday's activities take place in Esteli and center around visiting popular tourist destinations, such as the Volcan Masaya National Park. Thursday's schedule consists of tobacco field tours in Jalapa and a party during the evening hours in Esteli. The final day of the festival, Friday, offers factory tours in Esteli and a finale dinner in Managua.
As expected, plenty of premium cigars will be handed out throughout the festival. The festival's host cigar makers include Rocky Patel, Drew Estate, Oliva, My Father Cigars, Padron, Joya de Nicaragua, and more. Anyone is invited to attend, provided they are at least 18 years of age. More information on the festival, including pricing, can be found at www.nicaraguancigarfestival.com.
