Support for H.R. 1639 Grows

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has been doing its best to try to clamp down on the tobacco industry, which is bad news for those who make cigars, as well as those who enjoy smoking them. H.R. 1639, dubbed the Traditional Cigar Manufacturing and Small Business Jobs Preservation Act of 2011, is a bill that was created to try to put a stop to such overreaching government interference that seems to be becoming the norm.
Since its introduction, H.R. 1639 has done well in earning support from various co-sponsors. In fact, the bill now has over 115 co-sponsors, as several new Representatives joined the fight against unfair tobacco legislation. Here’s the list of Representatives who recently became co-sponsors of H.R. 1639 according to Cigar Rights of America: Richard Hanna of New York, Diane Black of Tennessee, Steve Chabot of Ohio, Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia, Michael Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania, Shelley Berkley of Nevada, Todd Akin of Missouri, Ted Poe of Texas, Larry Kissell of North Carolina, Bill Huizenga of Michigan, William Owens of New York, Geoff Davis of Kentucky, Robert Brady of Pennsylvania, and Rick Crawford of Arkansas.
Such support is vital for the preservation of the industry, so if you see that your member is not participating, Cigar Rights of America urges you to contact them to ask for their support. You can find a list of your local elected officials via a search on the Cigar Rights of America’s website, which is located at the following link: http://capwiz.com/cigarrights/dbq/officials/.
