According to John Thornton, head of sales, marketing and product
development for Eden's Gate Cigars, "We are deeply indebted to Emilio
Reyes, for his unselfish contribution to our troops in Iraq. He is donating
50,000 new Patriot premium cigars, which we are now preparing for
shipment, to be put directly in the hands of the service personnel. We are
certain they will appreciate this demonstration of our support."
Reyes is the fifth-generation to head the tobacco-producing family's company,
Flor de los Reyes. The 168-year old family business supplies dark tobacco
for some of the world's most prestigious brands, and is by far the Dominican
Republic's largest tobacco grower. Reyes has teamed with Eden's Gate Cigars, the
U.S. distributor, to offer his Emilio Reyes Collection and Adan y Eva lines
of premium cigars.
Thornton also advises that the Patriot is now available for purchase on the
newly-redesigned Eden's Gate Web site,
www.edensgatecigars.com.
The company will donate 50% of all proceeds from the sale of Patriot cigars to a
widows and orphans fund. The money will provide some relief to the families of
Special Forces and EOD (Explosives Ordnance Disposal) personnel in Iraq. The
extremely dangerous work involves the disarming and disposal of unexploded
Coalition and insurgent munitions in the combat theater. Explains Thornton, "My
son is a U.S. Navy Chief Warrant Officer, who serves in an EOD group in Iraq, so
this is of special importance to me and the rest of my family who form Eden's
Gate Cigars."
The Patriot, a new cigar, is offered in three wrappers ...
Ecuadorian-grown Connecticut shade, African Cameroon, and Nicaraguan Habano 2000.
The filler is a blend of Nicaraguan and Dominican leaf. The shapes are Robusto,
Pirámide, and Churchill. The presentation is boxes of 25, and MSRP is $4 to $7,
depending on shape. The cigars are currently available.
Thornton states, "Don Emilio touched us, with his concern for American
service personnel. We hope to spread the word about the Patriot, not only
because it is a great value in a cigar from a great manufacturer, but also
because it provides just one little bit of comfort to families who have lost
their husbands and fathers."
The Patriot is available from Emilio Reyes and Eden's Gate Cigars, with
half the proceeds of sales going to widows and orphans of Iraq service
personnel.
