Unless you truly love what you do (and even if you do), you have probably thought about jumping ship and leaving that nine-to-five job and finding something better. As the old saying goes, if you do what you love, you will love what you do. If you are like me, that thing you love is cigars. In this article, we will discuss some of the jobs you can get in the cigar industry and uncover some resources that can make all your dreams come true.
In the past I have written about the men and women that make cigars and described some of their jobs. I won’t be rehashing that here. Working in a factory or in the fields probably is not the ideal job for many of us, as the pay is not that spectacular and working out in the hot sun or rolling cigars for twelve hours straight would get pretty old pretty quickly.
I could be wrong of course – maybe that sort of work environment is exactly what you are interested in. In some ways, I am sure that it is less stressful and more “hands-on” than the jobs many of us have. At any rate, this article is going to focus on other jobs in the industry.
So if we are not going to work in a factory, work in the fields, read to the rollers, or blend our own tobaccos, what is there left to do? The answer to that is simple: plenty.
The cigar industry is like any other industry: it too needs a support staff and likewise, has industries that feed off of it. Some of these are pretty obvious, such as the retail branch and marketing, but others are not so obvious. In fact, you are looking at one right now and may have never even thought about it.
