Alec Bradley Goes Punk

Someone at the Alec Bradley cigar company seems to have their mind in the gutter—at least when it comes to naming their new cigars. Hot on the heels of the Filthy Hooligan, the latest addition to their Black Market line is a petite smoke called the Punk.

The smallest cigar in the Black Market line, the Punk is a 4 ½” by 42 ring petit corona filled with Bradley’s Black Market blend of tobaccos. The mixture includes fillers from Panama and Honduras with a Sumatran binder and wrapper from Nicaragua.

Look for the Punk in stores sometime between March 10 and 15. They will be available in boxes of 22 for $5.65 each.

Tobacco Town Finds a Home in West Virginia

A town like Beaver, WV, isn’t the most likely place for a sophisticated vendor of fine cigars, but that’s just what you’ll find at Tobacco Town. Owner Chase Boggs opened the store in 1999, and it’s become a local favorite.

Boggs keeps looking for ways to improve his store, and the latest addition is a nine by eleven foot walk-in humidor lined with fragrant Spanish cedar. The humidor has humidity control that keeps cigars at 68%-72% humidity and 60-70 degrees.

The humidor is so popular that it draws in customers from all over the state. Boggs says some come for the selection, while “Others come in here just to see our humidor. It’s the only one like it in southern West Virginia.”

He tries to cater to his clientele and told a reporter, “We already have special requests from our cigar customers. We deal directly with cigar manufacturers, and my customers know that I sell the top quality brands: Cohiva, Montecristo, Ashton, Alec Bradley, Macunudo, Partagus and Rocky Patel, one of the hottest cigar brands going at tobacco shops now.”

Another service Boggs provides for his customers is a series of promotions. Customers who join the store’s cigar club for $20 a year enjoy a 20% discount on purchases all year long. Those who buy ten cigars get two free.

Tobacco Town stocks over 50 different brands of cigars ranging in price from $3 to $15. Boggs boasts, “We are a one-stop tobacco shop. If you can smoke it or chew it, Tobacco Town has got it.”
