cignews7.25 It seems as if the cigar industry is never short on new releases, and July has been no exception. Today’s edition of new cigar releases will focus on new and upcoming smokes from Gurkha, Cohiba, and La Gloria Cubana.

Three New Releases from Gurkha

Gurkha, the luxury brand known for its premium cigars with high price tags and snazzy marketing, recently revealed three new lines at this month’s IPCPR trade show in Las Vegas: the Royal Challenge, Seduction, and Cellar Reserve. The three lines all share a status that is exclusive to retailers, as Gurkha aims to shift the attention from online shopping to more traditional methods. Gurkha President and CEO Gary Hyams commented on the new lines in the official press release: “These exciting new brands represent our ongoing commitment to further support our brick and mortar customers.”

The Gurkha Royal Challenge features a filler blend of Dominican and Nicaraguan tobaccos. The binder is of the Honduran Habano variety. An Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade wrapper highlights the composition. The Royal Challenge is described as being medium-bodied with a smooth, yet complex profile. The cigar comes in boxes of 20 and is offered in five different sizes: the 5 x 50 Robusto, 6 x 50 Toro, 6 x 60 XO, 6 ½ x 53 Torpedo, and 7 x 52 Churchill. Each Royal Challenge has a suggested retail price of $5.98 to $8.50, depending on the size.

The Seduction is another medium-bodied smoke from Gurkha that is said to be filled with flavor. It has a filler blend of Corojo and Colombian tobaccos, a Dominican Olor binder, and an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper. The Seduction comes packaged in boxes of 20 and is offered in the following sizes: the 5 x 55 Robusto, 6 x 55 Toro, 6 x 60 XO, and 7 x 50 Churchill. Suggested retail price per single is between $6.80 and $9.50, depending on the size.

Last, but not least, is the Cellar Reserve. This medium to full-bodied cigar is highlighted by its use of aged tobaccos. The filler is composed of 15 year old Nicaraguan Criollo tobacco. An aged Dominican Olor binder and a 1998 Criollo wrapper complete its outer layers. True to its name, the Cellar Reserve comes packaged in wooden boxes of 20 that mimic the look of a maturing wine barrel. The cigar carries a suggested retail price of $7.99 to $12.95 per single, and is offered in the following sizes: the 4 x 58 Perfecto, 5 x 58 Doble Robusto, 6 x 58 Gran Rothchild, 6 x 60 XO, and 7 x 54 Churchill.
