Cohiba Edicion Diamante

General Cigar has introduced the upcoming December 2011 release of the Cohiba Edicion Diamante. The company claims that the line offers cigar connoisseurs the opportunity to “own a piece of premium cigar history.”
The Edicion Diamante is highlighted by its rare Cameroon wrapper with tobacco that was harvested in 1980. General Cigar’s blenders kept the special wrapper leaf sheltered for over thirty years, waiting for the perfect opportunity to arise to finally put it to use. Benji Menendez led the team of cigar masters responsible for the Edicion Diamante’s production. To balance the unique wrapper’s taste, a proprietary Dominican Piloto Cubano filler and an Indonesian Jember binder are used. The cigar is said to be characterized by a fragrant aroma and notes of cinnamon and toasted wood.
Bill Chillian, Cohiba’s Director of Marketing described the Edicion Diamante in the official press release: “Cohiba Edicion Diamante spent nine years in the making. Every single aspect of this collection, from the superlative wrapper and outstanding blend, to the striking humidor exemplifies the highest art of cigar making. Cohiba Edicion Diamante is tribute to the artisans who put their heart and soul into bringing this collection to life, and is destined to be regaled as one of the premium cigar category’s most treasured offerings.”
The Cohiba Edicion Diamante will be offered in six different sizes: the 5 x 49 Capa Reserva Robusto, 6 x 54 Capa Reserva Toro, 6 x 60 Capa Reserva Gigante, 6 ¼ x 47 Capa Reserva Lonsdale Grande, 6 ½ x 42 Capa Reserva Corona Especiale, and 7 x 49 Capa Reserva Churchill. Production of the Edicion Diamante will be limited to just 100 humidors priced at $4,125 each. Each humidor is made of Spanish cedar and features hand lacquered hardwood and chrome accents.
