La Escepción was once a Cuban brand that stood in the shadows of Hoyo de Monterrey.

The new La Escepción debuts with an entirely new set of distinctions, for this bold ensemble was developed in accordance with national consumer feedback and features exclusive tobacco.

Boasting the world’s first Ometepe binder, La Escepción is handcrafted in Honduras with a unique blend of proprietary Nicaraguan tobaccos.  Enveloped in lustrous Honduran Habano Talanga, this medium-bodied collection offers a modern take on the brand, with an intriguingly rich, bold flavor and model construction that is evident at the first glance.

La Escepción will debut in mid September with three handcrafted frontmarks, each housed box reminiscent of the Cuban cigars from days of old.  Excepcionales (5 1/2” x 50) will be available for a suggested retail price of $5.99 per cigar, or $131.78 for a 22-count box.  Sister frontmark Gran Gener (6 ¼” x 54) will also be housed in a 22-count box costing $140.58 or $6.39 for an individual cigar.  The Batet frontmark is a 5” x 54 figurado that will sell for a suggested retail price of $5.99 per cigar, or $119.80 for a box containing 20 cigars.

UPPER CUT BY PUNCH

Upper Cut by Punch is a new collection of handcrafted Honduran cigars developed according to the taste preferences of hundreds of consumer panelists.

An offspring of the Punch “Election” promotion, the blend created for Upper Cut by Punch is the direct result of a national taste test. Using this feedback, General Cigar’s new product development team in Honduras married the classic, rich taste of Punch with Nicaraguan spice to produce this medium-bodied smoke that peppers the palate with an array of complex flavors.

Dressed in a silky Ecuadoran Sumatra wrapper and framed with a Nicaraguan binder, Upper Cut’s Nicaraguan blend features the unique flavor of Ometepe tobacco cultivated exclusively for General Cigar in a limited quantity. The result is a cigar that reveals an intriguing of range of flavors at the first draw and delivers a rich, balanced finish.

Debo Mukherjee, vice of president of marketing for General Cigar comments, “Upper Cut by Punch boasts a taste reminiscent of the base brand punctuated by a profound flavor that highlights the cigar’s Nicaraguan components.”

Upper Cut by Punch debuts with a trio of frontmarks, each housed in rustic wooden boxes containing 20 cigars.  The Grand Corona (6” x 45) and Robusto (5 ¼” x 50) frontmarks will each carry an SRP of $6.49, and a box price of $129.80. The Toro frontmark (6 5/8” 54) will sell at retail for $6.99 per cigar, or $139.80 per box.

Upper Cut by Punch will hit tobacco retail stores beginning in mid-October.
