MIAMI LAKES - On October 7, 2008, Nick Perdomo was elected as Councilman for Seat 1 in the Miami Lakes Town Council. Perdomo won by almost 40% in a race that included three other Miami Lakes residents.

Nick PerdomoAs a long time resident and successful business owner in Miami Lakes, Nick Perdomo decided it was time to be an advocate for his neighbors as he entered the race for Seat-1 in the Miami Lakes Town Council. "My vision for Miami Lakes is one where town officials will be held accountable for their actions," states Nick. "Residents deserve the very best individuals to represent their needs and I believe that by applying common sense business practices, we can find solutions to the issues that affect all of us on a daily basis. Fiscal responsibility, crime prevention, efficient public services, and traffic relief are my top priorities."

Fourth generation cigar maker, Nick Perdomo and his wife, Janine, moved to Miami Lakes in August of 1992. They have two children, Nicholas III and Natalie, who were born and raised in Miami Lakes. Nick and Janine came to Miami Lakes seeking a better quality of life for their family.

As a military veteran, Nick served our country in the United States Navy. "The Navy prepared me for the future obstacles I would face. I learned important skills like multitasking and paying attention to even the smallest details. These two skills have been the key to my success, both personally and professionally," states Nick. After leaving the Navy, Nick was an air traffic controller for the Federal Aviation Administration. Soon thereafter, Nick focused exclusively on his cigar business.

Nick started his cigar company sixteen years ago out of his garage on Lake Candlewood Court in Miami Lakes. With hard work and dedication, he built a sound business that currently manufactures its products in Esteli, Nicaragua and is headquartered in Miami Lakes. Nick attributes his success to his hard work ethic, the support of his family, and a relentless commitment to his business. "I decided to enter the cigar industry because I wanted to return to my roots. My Grandfather and my Dad were both great cigar makers in Cuba, and I wanted to continue the Perdomo legacy," states Nick.

Nick is very passionate about supporting charitable causes. His philanthropic efforts include being an Advocate for the Voices for Children Charities, a Founder for the Mount Sinai Medical Center, a Co-chair of the Foundation for Fighting Blindness, and a benefactor for the Senior Housing and Repair Program (SHARP) in Miami Lakes. "My family and I have been blessed, and I feel it is my duty to help my community," states Nick.

During this race, the Miami-Dade County Police Benevolent Association announced that they endorsed Nick in his bid for Seat 1 in the Miami Lakes Town Council. John Rivera, president of the Miami-Dade County PBA states, "We are proud to support Nick Perdomo because he is pro-public safety and he is clearly the right person for the town of Miami Lakes."

The Christian Family Coalition (CFC) also announced that they endorsed Nick during the campaign. Anthony Verdugo, Founder and Executive Director of the CFC states, "After carefully reviewing Nick Perdomo’s education, experience, and community service, we have rated him as highly qualified to serve on the Miami Lakes Town Council."

Miami Lakes' residents voted for Nick Perdomo on Tuesday, October 7 and it is clear that Miami Lakes is excited about having Nick as their voice in the Town Council.

Congratulations to Nick from the Cigar-Review.com family!
