smokingnews Today we have some smoking news on tap. As usual, there are plenty of things happening in the smoking world, and we will discuss a new cigar lounge that has opened, some tax hikes in Philadelphia, and a frivolous lawsuit over smoking in New Mexico.

San Antonio the Site for New Avo Lounge

Cigar smokers in the San Antonio area have a location with a new twist to visit to celebrate their beloved hobby. Club Humidor, a shop that had already existed for some time, has decided to let the AVO Cigars brand take up some real estate within their store.

The collaboration within the store can be accredited to Avo Uvezian, the brand's owner, and his personal friendship with Ralph Rumbo, the late proprietor of Club Humidor. Uvezian continued his relationship with the Rumbo family through the current owners of the shop, Tiffany and Keith, and that has allowed for the new lounge opening. This new setup for AVO is just their fourth lounge within the United States, and it officially opened on April 8.

As stated, AVO's lounge area only takes up part of Club Humidor. To be more exact, AVO was allotted around 400 square feet within the establishment. While in the lounge customers can look forward to browsing amongst several pieces of memorabilia from the AVO brand as well as the world famous Davidoff of Geneva. In case you are missing the connection there, Davidoff currently owns AVO Cigars and is also in charge of their distribution.

If you are looking to be more than just a spectator in the lounge, you can also smoke some limited edition sticks from the brand, more formally known as the AVO Lounge cigars. AVO Lounge cigars are only available at the brand's lounge locations, and not in stores or online.

While the San Antonio location is certainly not the first lounge from AVO, Mr. Uvezian himself has been quoted as saying that is the best yet. That is certainly a strong statement, and hobbyists in the San Antonio area can surely expect a great experience. At this time, AVO actually has more lounge locations open abroad than in the United States. That seems a bit odd, considering that the brand initially focused on cigars for American distribution when it was opened in the mid 1980's. There are eight lounges in Switzerland and one in Germany. Within the United States, there are just four AVO lounges, with setups similar to the new San Antonio lounge at Corona Cigar in Orlando, Florida, Smoke Ring in Sugarland, Texas, and CBC Burns in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Reportedly, the are more U.S. locations to come in the future, and that is certainly great news for fans of AVO Cigars and the hobby in general.
