Puffing on a cigar and enchanting fans with his baseball stories, former Red Sox hurler Luis Tiant, yesterday was pitching his new line of Nicaraguan stogies at Watch City Cigar Co. on Rte. 9. The master of baffling deliveries, "El Tiante," signed autographs on posters and cigar boxes to push El Tiante 23 Series Cigars, which were developed by his son, Daniel Tiant, and business partner Kevin Anderson. "Everybody has told me good things about the cigars and I haven’t heard any complaints," said Tiant, who played in the major leagues for 19 years before retiring in 1983. "(Daniel) is doing a great job, it’s a good thing."
In the shop's backroom, fans gathered around the Red Sox Hall of Famer and smoked his cigars while talking about his early life in Cuba, the Sox’ chances for this year and his battles with Boston sportswriters.
