Miami, FL ... 15 October ... Aaron Sigmond's The Cigar Report brought
their "Wall Street Smoke" to Miami last evening. The event was held at
Grass Lounge (28 N.E. 40th Street, Miami, FL - 305.573.5003) ... an aptly named,
tiki hut decorated, club in the Miami Design District. The evening, which
commenced at 6:00 PM, and lasted three (3) hours, brought out about two hundred
(200) cigar smoking, fun loving, networking, men and women 'about town.'

Once
you got past the very beautiful and attractively attired women, who greeted you
on behalf of the magazine and Grass, took in the imposing Harley Davidson at the
entrance, you faced an array of cigar manufacturers who were happy to provide
you with samples of their product and talk about their cigars and the pleasure
of cigar smoking in general.
Notables from the cigar world abounded, as Cigar Review encountered Ernie
Padilla of the eponymous cigar, Nestor Miranda of Miami Cigar, Louis Molina,
Molina Cigar Co. (manufacturer of Devil's Weed), to mention just a few.
Sponsors such as The Macallan, Mount Gary Rum, Patron Tequila and Presidente,
the famous Dominican beer owned by the makers of La Aurora and Leon Jimenez
cigars, saw to it that our other appetites were whetted and sated. The libations
were accompanied by some very unique hors d'oeuvres being passed around through
out the evening.
There is no doubt that 'Sig,' The Cigar Report's creator and
Editor/Publisher, knows how to do things properly. And, he most certainly knows
his audience.
When it came to the actual cigars on hand, the canvas bags provided to each
guest by The Cigar Report were brimming with the offerings of Altadis USA,
Camacho (recently
acquired by Davidoff), General Cigar, Cusano, Gurkha, Fonseca, Davidoff
Zino's and much more.
We noted Abe Flores' Pinar del Rio being appreciated, and commented on, by a
group of smokers, who had paired it with hefty glasses of The Macallan and Mount
Gay. Drew Estate, the cigar was there, as well as Steve Saka, the company's CEO.
Tony Borhani's Bahia, with Tony himself in attendance. It was a pleasure to see
that Graycliff's ever present Ambassador, Jean Edmund was there. Jean, having
been with the Garzaroli family for some thirty years, is pretty much a fixture
at events such as these. Known to many in the industry as "Jean, Jean the
Dancing Machine," it was not surprising that Alejandro Alcorta, proprietor of
Puros Fine Cigars, commented to someone that, "That guy was dancing around all
night!"
Very popular, as always, were the cigars of La Flor Dominicana. Litto Gomez'
fabulous smokes were sporting a new, elegant, distinctive band, as Brad
Arlington of LFD pointed out to me.
There were several attractive items raffled off towards the end of the evening,
sadly, no one went home with the Harley, nor any of the beautiful Wyler Genève
watches on display. I did note Paul Hernandez, rep for brands such as Tatuaje,
Xikar, Fonseca and Illusione leaving Grass with a beautiful humidor tucked under
his arm!
I left with having smoked a few great cigars; a few great cigars in my pocket
and the satisfaction of knowing that cigars are making a lot of people very
happy.
