Storing Your Flavored Cigars

Since we have focused on premium handmade flavored cigars in this guide, it’s important to note that they should be stored properly to maintain optimized performance.  Whether it’s in a humidor or a homemade coolidor, you want to keep your flavored cigars in a nice, controlled environment that will keep them fresh for when you finally decide to smoke them.  While the common machine made flavored cigars usually contain preservatives, those of the handmade variety often do not, so they can dry out if you are not careful.

With all of that being said, it’s important to store flavored cigars separate from other premium cigars in your collection.  Why?  The infusion of flavors/aromas from these cigars could affect your other cigars.  Some feel that it is okay to store both in the same humidor, as long as you keep the flavored cigars in their original packing.  You could do this, but why risk it?  Store them in a separate humidor, if you have one, or place your flavored cigars in a Tupperware container with something damp, such as a sponge.  You really shouldn’t store flavored cigars to age them, as it won’t have the same affect that your used to with conventional cigars.  Again, you are just storing them to preserve them, but keep them separate!

That wraps up this guide on flavored cigars.  If you’ve never tried a flavored cigar, give one a shot.  Most are affordable, so what do you have to lose?  At the very worst you can say you tried one and didn’t like it.  On the other hand, you may like them so much that you decide to add them to your regular rotation!

Do you have any flavored cigars that you’d like to recommend?  If so, make a thread on the General Discussion Board in Puff.com’s forums, or ask others if they have any special selections in mind.  Checking for recommendations from others is a good way to save yourself from having to do a lot of trial and error when shopping for new cigars.  You can also use Puff's forums to discuss cigar smoking tips, your favorite accessories, and much more, so head on over there now and register if you haven't already done so.
