Golden Cigar

Edible gold specialists Delafee have created a cigar wrapped in 24-carat gold leaf for the ultimate luxury smoke. Hand-rolled using Dominican-grown tobacco, the cigar has been crafted to achieve a smooth, bold flavour, and comes presented in an engraved stainless steel tube.

Collection 24k Spread

Online gourmet food store Spread the Restaurant have used 23-carat gold to create an absolutely divine chocolate spread. Made using a tempting combination of dark chocolate peanut spread, pure dark chocolate chunks and 23-carat edible gold, it's 115 dollars worth of luxury.

Duerr’s Golden Marmalade

To celebrate its 125th birthday, world renowned preserve manufacturer Duerr’s created an exclusive edible gold marmalade. Packed with extravagant ingredients, the sparkling spread included vintage champagne, stellar oranges and world class Dalmore whisky. When spread evenly on toast, the manufacturers worked out that it cost £76 per golden slice. And the jar itself, which was specially designed and hand-crafted for the anniversary, was valued at £1,100. Rockware Glass’s Chris Todd, who created the jar, said: “We wanted to create a unique jar that screamed luxury.” And that’s not all it screamed, with a shout-out-loud total value of £5000.

Golden Beaver Hot Sauce

This is probably one of the hottest sauces ever made, and not because it’s packed with chillies. This hot sauce contained 24-carat gold flakes, as well as peach flavours and habanera pepper extracts. Only 1000 of the spicy sauces were manufactured, and each lid was adorned with an original beaver buckle made in Toronto in 1975 by a young metal sculptor. The buckles were made from an actual casting of the elusive Canadian Beaver, and the whole lot was sold for just $50 a pot.

Golden Chocolates

Another invention from edible gold specialist Delafee, these sweet treats combine two of the most luscious ingredients in the world - gold AND chocolate! To be more specific, these golden pralines are made from Ecuadorean dark chocolate and Delafee’s creamy Swiss chocolate, and decorated with a sprinkle of edible gold leaf.

Perhaps a better-known use of edible gold, this Swiss cinnamon schnapps is a clear liquor with thin flakes of edible gold floating through it. Thought there’s not a large quantity of gold in the drink, it’s rumoured that the gold particles in this tipple will help you get tipsy even quicker. And it’s one of the most accessible ways to get your gold fix, as you can probably pick it up from your local supermarket.

Golden Lollipops

A final golden treat from Delafee, this heart-shaped lollipop adds a little bit of glamour to everyday life, and makes a great gift for your other half. It’s a strawberry flavoured candy moulded with edible gold and packaged in a classic, brown envelope - what better way to send someone your heart?

The Golden Kaiser Schnitzel

A restaurant in Dussledorf has been selling gold leaf and white truffle schnitzels for over 5 years. The schnitzel has been snapped for 150 Euros a piece, and over 100 have been sold since they were introduced.

Golden Dessert

New York eatery Serendipity 3 rustled up a 25,000 dollar dessert filled with top grade cocoa, edible gold and shavings of luxury truffle La Madeline au Truffe. The Frozen Haute Chocolate was declared the most expensive dessert in the world in 2007, and uses a mix of cocoa from 14 different countries. Topped with whipped cream and served in a goblet with 1 carat of diamonds and pure gold dinner spoons, it’s one of the most indulgent desserts ever created.
