Smoking cigars could reduce the risk of Parkinson’s disease

While evidence of this is not 100 percent concrete, it has been suggested that tobacco usage could reduce the risk of Parkinson’s disease.  Why?  Smoking is thought to increase levels of dopamine, a chemical produced by the brain.  When the levels of dopamine are increased, the risk of neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s decrease.  Again, this is not set in stone, but when you take into account the relation between dopamine and neurodegenerative disease risks, it does seem to make sense.

You only live once

Of course, one more pro-cigar smoking item should be mentioned: you only live once.  Only those who have had the pleasure of enjoying a great cigar can truly know how pleasing it can be.  Unless you are trying to set the Guinness World Record for longevity in terms of human life span, why not make the most of your time on the planet?  There are plenty of things out there that are worse for your health than smoking cigars, but they don’t seem to get the same negative attention.  So with that being said, hit the humidor, pick out one of your favorites, and light that puppy up!

Does cigar smoking concern you a bit in terms of personal health issues?  How about close family members? Have they expressed their concern regarding your smoking habits?  Feel free to discuss this on the General Cigar Discussion board on Puff.com’s forums.  You can also chime in on all the latest tobacco legislation that aims to put an end to cigar smoking as we know it by visiting the Tobacco Legislation board.

That just about does it for this look at cigar smoking and how it affects your health, but be sure to check back with us daily for more cigar reviews, news, and lifestyle guides in the future.
