Observing bead moisture levels

When trying to determine your bead moisture levels, simply look at their color.  Beads that are moist and full of distilled water will be clear in color, while dry beads will be white.   Use these noticeable color differences to figure out when water must be added. It’s that simple.

Adding distilled water to beads that are dry

Okay, so you’ve determined that your beads are dry by looking at their color as described above.  How do you add moisture to them?  You can add moisture to the beads using distilled water in a few different ways.  You can pour distilled water on the beads, or you can employ the neater method of using a spray bottle.  Doing the former could break the beads, but they will still function normally if this happens.  Another method to add moisture is to place a bowl of distilled water next to the beads.  This method will obvious take longer to complete.

The importance of distilled water

Using distilled water with your beads is very important.  Tap water or any other liquids could contain impurities that will remain in the beads and eventually destroy their functionality.  Stick with distilled water to increase the longevity and performance of your beads.

Well that just about wraps up this brief look at humidification beads.  Hopefully you learned a little more about these nifty beads and how they can help you maintain your cigars.  If you have any questions regarding humidification beads before purchasing them or any other cigar accessories, make sure you post them on Puff.com’s forums.  Our Cigar Accessory Questions board is filled with questions and answers concerning cigar accessories from our members.  Once on the board, you can feel free to ask questions or chime in with your own personal knowledge on certain topics.
