Welcome back to the second installment in our series, the Ultimate Cigar Glossary. We covered a ton of ground in the first article, but only just cracked the lid when it comes to the vast expanse of terminology used in the cigar world. In this second article we will attempt to make it midway through the rest of our vocabulary, starting with the letter C and working our way through.
As a refresher, and for those that skipped the last part, our last issue covered these cigar terms: 8-9-8, Aging, Amarillo, Amatista, American Market Selection, Baling, Band, Belicoso, Binder, Blending, Bloom, Blowing a Cloud, Blue Mold, Boite Nature, Booking, Bouquet, Boxing, Bulking, Bull’s Eye, Bunch, Bundles, and finally, Burros.
Let’s dive right into the C’s:
Cabinet Selection: Cigars that are packed in wooden boxes, with the mindset of aging the cigars. Typically Cabinet Selection boxes do not have protective outer wrappers.
Cameroon: A tobacco lead used as a wrapper named for the region in which it is grown (Cameroon, West Africa). Similar to native Cuban tobacco, the Cameroon is spicy with a sweet smell. You can find Cameroon wrappers on cigars such as the Partagas and the Arturo Fuente.
Candela: Known also as the Double Claro or the Jade, this distinctive, green colored cigar wrapper owes its bright green color to its heat-curing, which “fixes” the chlorophyll of the wrapper before it leaves the barn.
Canoeing: Caused by biting down too hard on a cigar, Canoeing is the uneven burn of a cigar that causes a canoe-like effect, whereby some of the wrapper does not turn to ash. This effects the draw of the cigar, but do not fear. If you find it happening, simply roll your cigar intermittently and be sure to allow it to rest often.

Here's the second article in the Ultimate Cigar Glossary series, where I try to sum up all the cigar terms that start with the letter C. Not surprisingly, there are quite a few. If you feel that I missed some, please drop me a line and let me know!
