1. Cigar Glossary Two: The C's
2. Cap
3. Cigarillo
4. Corojos

Corojos: Grown underneath a gauze screen, these plants are used to create wrapper leaves.

Corona: A popular size and shape of premium cigars, measuring 5 ½ inches with a rounded head. The ring gauge on these cigars are 43. There are many types of Corona, such as the petite and double.

Cuban Seeding: This is the process of growing tobacco plants outside of Cuba using Cuban seeds.

Cubatabaco: The old name of the worldwide distributer of Cuban made cigars, Habanos S.A.

Culebra: Meaning “snake” in Spanish, Culebra are cigars that are made out of three panetelas that are banded together. Between five and six inches in length with a ring gauge of 38.

Curing: There are two methods of curing cigars: air and heat. Air curing is achieved by hanging tobacco leaves in open-air barns, so that they dry from the tropical breezes. Curing causes any chemicals added to the leaves to dissipate, and concentrates the tobacco flavor. Heat curing is used to speed this process up, though typically leaves the leaf less concentrated, and thereby not as flavorful.

Cutter: A tool used to either remove entirely or open the cigar cap. Types of cutter include the pinhole, the drill, the bull’s eye, the scissor, the v-cut, and the guillotine.

Conclusion

That wraps it up for this installment of the Ultimate Cigar Glossary. There is still much more to come however. In the next issue, you can expect us to traverse or way from the e’s to the l’s, and maybe even the m’s if I feel ambitious enough. So stay tuned!

Hi,

Here's the second article in the Ultimate Cigar Glossary series, where I try to sum up all the cigar terms that start with the letter C. Not surprisingly, there are quite a few. If you feel that I missed some, please drop me a line and let me know!
