They may operate out of a socialist country but they understand the value that rests in the brand names that they have built up and once the embargo is lifted they want to capitalize on that value. So it will be an interesting battle to watch and one that will have a lasting effect on cigar smokers here in the United States.
The outcome may even have an effect on the price that we will have to pay for the finest genuine Cuban cigars and it might even cause the price of the non-Cuban Cuban cigars to rise when the embargo disappears. After all, just how many cigar smokers are going to read the fine print on the packaging of a box of cigars that claims to bear the name of Fidel Castro’s personal favorite?
