A very elegant version of the Brazilian "Churrasco" restaurants that have sprung
up around South Florida and other parts of the United States, Grimpa is located
in Mary Brickell Village, just west of Miami's Brickell Avenue 'financial
district.'
Open for lunch and dinner, the restaurant should be a spectacular haven for
gourmet and glutton alike! For the gourmet, it offers the opportunity to explore
an extraordinary collection of meats, chicken and fish…explore them for texture
and taste. While the glutton can indulge his overweening appetites at a fixed
price!
Your meal will commence with a selection of soft bread rolls, warmed to
perfection along with a few delectable cheese puffs.
The
most important thing to remember is the disk – a disk that is Red on one side
and Green on the other. It's like a traffic light for the waiters who are
constantly moving about the room, carving fresh meats off sword like skewers.
Red side up and they'll ignore you; Green side up and they'll come at you. The
disk is critical to a pleasant, well paced meal and hot meats!
Begin your meal, lunch or dinner, at the salad table. I say "table," because it
is not an Olive Garden style "salad bar," albeit, I, for one, have never seen
said salad bar.
The salad table at Grimpa has a plethora of appetizers from fresh Asparagus,
Parma ham; mushrooms, Caesar salad, green salad, tomatoes with mozzarella,
smoked salmon and things, delicious things, only identifiable by the sign in
front of them. Do not over indulge or you will miss the best part!
As far as the meats are concerned, it is hard to know where to begin. Rest
assured they will be fresh from the kitchen and you'll get it rare, medium or
well…as it's almost like a whole side of meat on the sword. It's a thing of
beauty to watch the waiter carve off your piece, or pieces, as you snatch them
with your tong.
You name it…prime rib, tenderloin, sirloin top, sirloin, flank steak, boneless
rib eye, one more beautiful and flavorful than the other.

Beef ribs, lamb chops, pork ribs, pork loin, boneless chicken, broiled salmon;
it is a veritable Bacchanalian feast for the meat eater, and will satisfy the
most discriminating palate.
The bar drinks are expertly made and served just as nicely, while the wines on
their Wine List hale from every part of the globe; California, South Africa,
Brazil, Chile, Uruguay, Argentina, New Zealand, Australia. And least we forget
Spain, France, Italy, Germany and Portugal (that is in addition to fine Ports
from this country).
If you cannot find a wine you'll enjoy, then you may never find one anywhere!
Should you be able to accommodate dessert; I never can and settle for an
excellent espresso (or two), the available desserts are an exquisite obscenity,
none of which I shall mention.
Get to Grimpa and dig in!
