Are you looking for a quality brick and mortar cigar store in your area?  There are several things to consider, and this guide will fill you in before you make your choice.

If you just moved to a new city or state, you may have a hard time finding a cigar store like the one you used to frequent in your previous location.  This is even truer if you are brand new to cigar smoking and have never set foot in an actual cigar shop before.  Not all cigar shops are created equal, so there are several factors you should keep in mind before picking one as your go-to source for stogies.  Now, without further delay, let’s discuss some of those factors.

Factors to consider when choosing your B&M store for cigars

Perhaps number one on the list is distance.  Cigar smoking is expensive enough as a hobby, and if you have to burn a lot of gas just to get to the B&M, it might not be worth it.  This is especially true with today’s gas prices.  In other words, the closer the store, the better.

One of the main reasons why some cigar smokers prefer brick and mortar shops to online sites is the level of customer service they receive.  Simply put, you really can’t get the same shopping experience when online.  Sure, a site may have great customer service via phone, chat, or email, but it’s not the same as being there in person and having a friendly staff member assisting you.  A B&M’s staff is extremely important.  If they aren’t attentive or friendly, you might as well go elsewhere.

One way to find out a lot about a cigar store (including its staff) before making the trip to see it is by online reviews.  Yelp is a very popular online review site, and you can search for shops in your area.  Once you find them, you can then read reviews from customers to see what they say about the staff, prices, selection, and overall atmosphere.  Google Plus has reviews as well, but if you really want to get the smoking community’s view on local cigar shops, check out yours truly, Puff.com.  A link to the Places to Smoke board can be found towards the end of this article.
