Dining at The Broadmoor is designed to satisfy the most discerning palate, embracing international cuisine as well as fare that represents America’s proud western heritage. The hotel offers casual dining settings and a popular Sunday brunch, as well as the Five Star Diamond Penrose Room.

Guests will be pleased to purchase a range of cigars in The Broadmoor’s “Hotel Bar,” located inside the main building. More than 20 varieties are offered, ranging in price from $9 each to $42 each. An idyllic spot for puffing is the adjacent outdoor patio, with its large fireplaces and scenic views of Cheyenne Lake. During summer, additional patio furniture is positioned alongside the Lake, another treat to experience the satisfaction of a good cigar après golf or after dinner. Service attendants are available to assist with bar and light fare orders.

Pinehurst Resort, North Carolina
Arguably the most elegant and charming presentation of southern hospitality can be found at the 2,000-acre Pinehurst Resort, which boasts eight different golf courses. Weaving artfully amongst the towering pines of North Carolina, each course offers a different and uniquely memorable experience. There are several classic courses and courses 2, 4, 6, 7 and 8 are considered the “championship” courses for more challenging play. Experienced golfers are certain to enjoy Donald Ross’ famous Course 2, a two-time US Open Venue. This same course will be hosting the Men’s and Women’s US Open in 2014.

With its spectacular undulating greens, many golfers look forward to the challenge of Course 7, recently renovated in 2003. It’s considered one of the “boldest and most dramatic” golf courses at Pinehurst. At the end of the day, golfers often discuss the challenge on the short, par 4, 7th hole, which includes wetlands and vast expanses of sand. Course number 4, site of the 2008 US Amateur, tests golfers with its 140 pot bunkers set along its gorgeous green landscape. It also offers some of the most picturesque vistas, such as the 12th and 14th water holes. Course 3, originally designed by Donald Ross, was recently re-worked and perfected by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw to ensure it captured Donald Ross’ original vision. It just re-opened this month.
While the resort offers a variety of accommodations, including The Holly, a boutique Hotel, and The Manor, a sportsman-style Lodge, our recommendation is to experience the luxurious Carolina Hotel, which just completed a renovation at a cost of $50,000 per room. Each bathroom was upgraded to be an all-marble sanctuary while the bedrooms now include flat screen TVs and new, exquisitely comfortable bedding. The Carolina is the only four-star hotel within 100 miles of Pinehurst Resort.
