Tempus

The name Tempus comes from the Latin word for time, and is meant to invoke that image of aged cigars full of flavors. This line of cigars is created in Honduras at the Raices Cubana factory. The Tempus is considered a prestigious line, and only a select few are allowed to roll them. Tobacco for the cigars comes out of Trojes valley in Honduras, as well as Jalapa, Nicaragua. Each of the seven cigars in the line are made up of the following: Honduran wrapper, Honduran and Indonesian Binder, and Honduran and Nicaraguan filler.

The Cigars

There are seven cigars in total and I will try to cover as many as possible here. First up:

Alec Bradley Tempus Centuria

This cigar is 7 inches long with a ring gauge just under 50. The wrapper is dark with some veins and black mottling here and there, with an attractive oil sheen. It is well constructed, firm to the pinch.

The draw on this cigar is beautiful; one of the best around. It has a smooth burn and a memorable aroma prior to being lit. Pretty sweet. The flavor comes on a bit strong at first, and then levels out, never dropping below the radar. You will notice cedar and walnuts, lending a nice earthiness to this smoke.

Alec Bradley Tempus Creo

This long, thin cigar has a humorous tip, reminiscent of a pug tail. At 7 ½ inches long and with a ring gauge of 41, to me this cigar looks a little feminine, depending on the guy holding it. Likewise, on a smaller man, it can look a little comical. Style aside though, it smokes pretty well with a better draw than I thought it might have when I first saw it.

On the taste side of things, it has an earthy, mineral sort of taste with some wood, nuts, and a slight hint of coffee. Not exactly my cup of tea, but if someone pass it to me, I certainly wouldn’t turn it down. Unless there some ladies around…
