Cuvee Rouge

Another cigar in the Cuvee family from Cusano is the Cuvee Rouge. Introduced in 2008, the line is listed as being medium to full-bodied in strength, and offers notes of earth, leather, and spice, among others. The Cuvee Rouge is another highly-rated cigar from Cusano, but it did endure some growing pains. When the cigar was first released on a limited basis, there were complaints regarding its burn and flavor. Cusano pulled the Rouge from shelves in response to the negative feedback and changed its composition.

The improved Cuvee Rouge has been converted from a Dominican puro to a cigar that has a blend of Dominican Sun Grown and Ecuadorian tobaccos as its filler. The binder is also Dominican, and an Ecuadorian wrapper tops things off. The Cuvee Rouge comes in a 5 x 50 Robusto, 6 x 54 Toro, and 7 x 50 Churchill.

Cuvee 151

The 151 is the strongest edition of Cusano's Cuvee family, and it was named after the highest proof of alcohol sold in the United States. Like the Rouge, the Cuvee 151 encountered some problems after its release at the 2007 Retail Tobacco Dealers of America trade show. The cigar's quality was deemed as not up to snuff, so Cusano canceled its production.

The original Cuvee 151 came with a very dark Costa Rican wrapper. The wrapper has been replaced in the newer 151 with one of the Brazilian Maduro variety. A Dominican Sun Grown filler and a Dominican binder complete the 151's composition. Expect some sweetness from this medium to full-bodied stick. The Cuvee 151 is offered in a 5 x 50 Robusto, 6 x 54 Toro, and 7 x 50 Churchill.

Bundled Cigars from Cusano

You, like many other smokers, may be looking for cigars that offer great value. If so, Cusano has four different bundled offerings to fit the bill. While these lines may not come in fancy packaging, they still have received praise from critics for their quality.

The M1 is a smooth and mild bundled cigar with a Connecticut wrapper. The P1 is a medium-bodied, sweet cigar with a Maduro wrapper. Also medium-bodied and bundled is the MC, with its Connecticut wrapper and rich profile. Last, but not least, is the CC, a medium to full-bodied stick created in the traditional Cuban style.

As you can see, Cusano has quite the lineup. Make sure to hit your local shop to sample some Cusano sticks for yourself. If their ratings are any indication, you will not be disappointed.
