padropic1 High quality and high ratings are characteristics that seem to describe Padron Cigars well. The cigar company has made quite a mark since its beginning over 40 years ago, so let's take a look at its history and learn a little more about the various cigars in its lineup.

Company History

The origin of Padron Cigars goes all the way back to the late 1800's. The Padron family's patriarch, Damaso Padron, started it all. Although he was born in the Canary Islands, Damaso eventually immigrated to Cuba. The fertile Pinar del Rio region would be the place where he began the family's cigar roots. Along with the help of his sons, Damaso began producing tobacco for the cigar industry. Through the years, the family gained experience with cultivating tobacco, and it eventually led to the start of a full fledged company.

Padron Cigars official introduction as a company took place in 1964 in Little Havana. To this day, it is still family owned and operated. Its corporate headquarters remains in Little Havana where it all started, and Padron also owns factories in Honduras and Nicaragua. The company's 600-plus employees work under the leadership of Jose O. Padron. Although Damaso Padron initiated the family into the industry by producing tobacco, Padron Cigars now handles all aspects of the manufacturing process, including distribution.

Speaking of distribution, it's time to take a glance at the products Padron has on the market.
