Charitable Efforts
In 2001, the Fuente Arturo Family and the Newman Family created the CFCF or Cigar Family Charitable Foundation, which raises money for building schools, water cleaning stations, health clinics, and more within the Dominican Republic.
Cigar Lines
The company boasts five unique cigar lines, including the landmark Diamond Crown, the Diamond Crown Maximus, La Unica, Cuesta Ray Centro Fino, and the Cuesta RayCentenario.
In this next section, we will look at the Crown and Crown Maximus series.
The Diamond Crown
The Diamond Crown line was created to celebrate the companies 100 years of success in the industry. Wanting to create a superior cigar, Stanford Newman sought out Carlos Fuente to help create the cigar, who of course, obliged.
The Diamond crown comes in 10 sizes, ranging from a 4 1.2 inch Robusto with a ring gauge of 54 on up to the 8 ½ inch x 54 #1 Robusto. They also feature two 6 x 64 Figurados (the normal and the Maduro).
There are two types of Diamond Crowns: The Normal and the Maduro.
Diamond Crown (non Maduro)
This cigar boasts the Natural Connecticut Shade wrapper, lending it a shiny, golden look. Featuring binder and filler straight out of the Dominican Republic, it is pretty well made, firm in all the right places. Somewhere between a medium and full body, you can expect a nice, even burn and a smooth draw Clint Eastwood would be proud of.
On the taste scale, this guy has a lot going for it. Along with an almost peppery spice that seems to be a signature of the Fuente clan, you will be pleasantly surpised by the chocolate and almond flavors, reminiscent of a Mars Bar.
