It's time again for yet another Puff Profile. Today we will take a look at Rocky Patel Premium Cigars. Not only will we discuss the main man responsible for their creation, but we will also do the same regarding some of the different offerings from the brand.
The Man and the Company
After you read up on several cigar companies and how they got their start, one thing becomes apparent: many companies began out of the simple love for the hobby. Such is the case with Rocky Patel Premium Cigars.
Rocky Patel did not grow up in a tobacco family with tons of experience in the industry. Instead, he was a young Hollywood attorney for the stars in Beverly Hills. Seeing how his days consisted of a lot of waiting on movie sets, he took up an interest in cigar smoking to pass the time. He took that one step further and joined the Grand Havana Room, an exclusive cigar club and lounge in Beverly Hills. It was there that one day Patel was approached with an investment opportunity to manufacture cigars in Honduras. Patel took interest in the plan and spent several years studying techniques and everything he could from the best in Central America. After leaving his career as a lawyer behind, Patel started the Indian Tabac Cigar Company in the mid-90's with a partner.

Despite many doubting his abilities and touting his inexperience in the industry, Patel continued on with the aim to prove his detractors wrong. In 2002, Patel changed the company name from Indian Tabac to Rocky Patel, not only for some licensing conflicts, but also because he felt that the brand was finally up to par to what he had envisioned from the start. He has since bought out his initial partner in the venture and now runs the company as a family business. Rocky Patel Premium Cigars has gone from producing just 150,000 cigars at its inception in the 90's to surpassing the 15 million cigar mark recently, which is a testament to Patel's determination and will to succeed.
Rocky Patel cigars have not only grown in production, but have also grown in popularity. Many of the brand's releases have received critical acclaim, with its Decade Torpedo headlining the show. Cigars produced by Patel are known to have a lot of flavor and character, and their prices range from the affordable to the expensive. Despite his success, Patel himself continues to hit the road to promote his cigars, meeting with everyone from cigar shop owners to cigar smokers on a face to face basis.
