Parties, ping-pong and gold-plated pool tables - this speakeasy-inspired games room is the hottest club in Hong Kong, maybe even the world!
Hong Kong is renowned for its glamorous nightlife and hoards of glittering partygoers, so where better to set up one of the world’s most luxurious clubs than right in the heart of the city?
Inspired by the glamorous, smoke-filled speakeasys of prohibition America, the Tazmania Ballroom is a dark, decadent pool hall where Cohibas are top of the bar menu, staff are decked out in uniform Doc Martins, and gold-plated pool tables disappear into the roof. Already attracting glitterati from across the globe, this exclusive club is the perfect place to party from dusk till dawn.
Cocktails, Ping Pong and Fish ‘n’ Chips
The Tazmania Ballroom has a whole host of unsual and unique features setting it apart from your ordinary night-club. Where else can you listen to live DJ’s while eating hot dogs served by Doc-Martin wearing staff? From the games to the food to the design, Tazmania Ballroom strives to provide something a bit different... to create something a bit special.
For starters, the club’s three resident DJ’s (DJ Alan, DJ Ian and DJ Derek) hit the decks every night to provide a fresh mix of R ‘n’ B, non-commercial hip-hop and old school classics from their elevated DJ booth. The specially selected tunes are blasted out through a Funktion One sound system, which is rumoured to be the best sound system in the world and is only used in Hong Kong.

The bar menu is also pretty special, serving everything from Montechristo and Cohiba cigars to traditional British fish‘n’ chips, hot dogs and dim-sum platters. They’ve even developed a signature cocktail called ‘Funk Me Up’ which contains a killer mix of Amaretto, Chambord, Malibu, Midori, Vodka and fruit juice, garaunteed to get you dancing all night.
And there’s plenty of space to get your groove on, as the gold-plated pool tables can be lifted into the roof leaving room for the more energetic customers to throw a few shapes.
However, if the games are more your scene, Ping Pong Tuesdays are made for you. The evening is entirely devoted to ping pong and partying, while the rest of the week is all about pool, music and Martinis.

If you do manage to get a place on the guest-list, don’t forget to dress in your best. Fashion is a big hitter on the Tazmania Ballroom scene, and you’ll be competing with the best-dressed bar staff in Asia. Decked out in Fred Perry and Doc Martins, the uniform certainly beats the regular shirt and pinafore look.
