The Future By Airbus: The Bigger PictureThe plans are the latest instalment of ‘The Future By Airbus’ which is the company’s vision of aviation and air travel by 2050. Following an unveiling of the Airbus Concept Plane in 2010 - an energy-efficient plane packed with technology to reduce fuel, emissions, waste and noise - their latest invention of the Concept Cabin brings the plane of 2050 gradually closer to completion.
Talking about the interior design of the Concept Cabin, Airbus Executive Vice President of Engineering Charles Champion said: “Our research shows that passengers of 2050 will expect a seamless travel experience while also caring for the environment. The Airbus Concept Cabin is designed with that in mind, and shows that the journey can be as much a voyage of discovery as the destination. Whichever flight experience is chosen, the passenger of 2050 will step out of the Airbus Concept Cabin feeling revitalised and enriched.”

Airbus has been pumping over 2 billion euros into the research and development of these futuristic planes every year. The technology they have developed means the Concept Cabin will be 100% recyclable and will have self-cleaning materials made from sustainable plant fibres - which will save money on waste and cleaners! Advances in technology also mean the plane will be able to use passenger’s body heat to power the cabins, making them highly energy-efficient aircrafts.
The plans will be showcased at the international Paris Airshow, Le Bourget. Visitors will be able to experience Airbus’ 360 degree planetarium movie, the Future of Flight, which shows their vision of the transformations in air transport between now and the middle of the century, from aircraft design to passenger expectations. The movie will be part of the planetarium’s programme at the Musee de l’Air de l’Espace from 20-26 June.

The Paris Air Show will also include a 42-aircraft flying display, and a close-up look at Solar Impulse, the world’s first solar powered aircraft. The public can buy tickets to the annual Parisian event which is currently in it’s 49th year.
