Abe Dababneh, the proprietor of three (3) cigar emporiums, named, Smoke Inn in Palm Beach, Florida, held the third ‘edition’ of his fabulous “The Great Smoke,” on Saturday, February 21st.
Forty famous cigar makers and an enormous crowd of cigar enthusiasts from all over the country, descended on Smoke Inn’s West Palm Beach store around 1:00 PM to engage in the festivities.
The work entailed in bringing this extraordinary event to south Florida is onerous; and, basically, Abe has done it – three years in a row – by himself. He does not have the organization that is behind “The Big Smoke” (Cigar Aficionado), “Cigar Fest” (Cigars.com), or even The Outlaw, where Kendall devotes a great deal of his time, on a daily basis, to scheduling the twelve (12), unique, monthly events he does.
From the catered food, which was provided, once again, by “Chef Richard,” to the live music; the creation of the program, much like a theater Playbill, and selling the ads in it? In other words, Abe started from scratch three (3) years ago to create this exciting event, and while he now has a template, he has constantly expanded and enhanced each subsequent event.
The question is: How can he top the 2009 ‘edition?’
Consider the economics. “The Great Smoke” carries a ticket price of $150.00, for which a smoker gets forty premium hand made cigars from the likes of Espinosa y Ortega, La Flor Dominicana, Padron, Tabacalera Garcia, Pete Johnson…and many, many, many more.
Want to bring your non-smoking wife to share the afternoon and the experience? Abe had a $30 ticket for her. Just walking around the South Parking Lot at Village Commons Shopping Center, you quickly realized that a large number of wives chose to join their cigar enthusiast husbands for the afternoon.
If you’re the type person that likes to go ‘first cabin,’ Smoke Inn had you in mind when they created a VIP ticket. Priced at $200, plus another $50 for your spouse, the VIP ticket surely provided VIP treatment and perks for the event.
