Answer: Maybe. Depending upon how long the cigar has been out. The rule of thumb is that for every day a cigar has been left out of a humidor or unwrapped, you must place it in the humidor for 3 times that long. So if you leave it out a whole week, you are looking at 21 days in the humidor. It might take a little less time, but as a rule I would say 21 days.

Also you must be very mindful of your handling of the cigar. As the cigar dries out, it becomes more delicate, and at the end of the day, tobacco leaf is, well, a leaf, and will crumble like one. Once this happens, your cigar is pretty much ruined.

You should never spray your cigar with a spritzer and never put it under the tap to try and moisten it. You will ruin the cigar in this manner. You’ll have to just have some patience, or worse case scenario, go buy yourself another one.

Question: What temperature should I store my cigars at?

Answer: This is a good question. You do not want you cigar to be in too hot of an environment, nor too cold. Too hot can encourage the growth of mold and cause a beetle infestation. Too cold can dry out the cigar.

The best temperature rang for your cigars is between 60 and 75 degrees. You will want to try to keep this a steady temperature, as tobacco reacts to rapid temperature changes. You will also want to allow the cigars to breathe; an airtight container will ruin the maturation process.

Conclusion

Well, that is all the time we have for this issue of the Puff FAQ. If you have different answers to these questions, or have some questions of your own that your are burning to have answered, send them on in and I’ll try my best to answer them for you.

And as always, thanks for reading!
