Storing and Aging Your Bundles

A common question people ask is whether or not they should age their bundles prior to smoking them. It is a good question, with a simple answer. Yes. Of course, I would advise that you age most of your cigars; it just makes them taste better.

With bundles, the problem with aging comes not with the tobacco itself (which will be properly aged unless it is a bad manufacturer), but with the cigar after it is rolled. Since bundles are sold at a premium with saving the consumer money, I would think that they do not age them as well after rolling as they do other cigars. It depends on the manufacturer of course, but I would use it as a rule of thumb.

I would start out aging them for a month. Then try one of them. If it tastes bitter, give them another month. Still bitter? Give it a third month. If they are bitter after that, you likely have a bum bundle on your hands. Time to move on.

Conclusion

That is all the time we have for this article. Do you have a favorite bundle, or one you think is terrible? Do you have any tips and tricks to share? If so, we would love to hear them. Drop us a line and let us know what you think!

My personal favorites that I have tried are the JR Special Jamaicans and La Finca brands. Both had some really nice flavors that I would have paid much more for. The La Fincas got fantastic with some age (about one or two months).

Great advice in the article!

I always enjoy searching for that illusive bundle that knocks your socks off......But if I were to just order a bundle for my next few rounds (I enjoy 4-6 cigars a round depending on the wind) I would order JR's Consuegra's 6 x 54 or 7.5 x 54 in maduro. Just a great all around smoke for the money.

Another great article.
