2. Rocky Patel Nording 50th Anniversary Review and the La Sirena Merlion Review
Number two on our list, the Rocky Patel Nording 50th Anniversary Review and the La Sirena Merlion Review was close, but not good enough for number one. It began with a look at the Rocky Patel Nording 50th Anniversary, which debuted during the 2012 IPCPR show. The 6 x 54 Toro Grande was reviewed. Its Nicaraguan filler and binder and Ecuadorian Habano wrapper supposedly provide a medium to full-bodied smoking experience. This attractive cigar, which, by the way, was released to commemorate pipe maker Erik Nording’s 50 years in the tobacco industry, had a solid burn and excellent flavor. Experienced and beginning smokers could both enjoy the Nording.
The supposedly smooth La Sirena Merlion was next. A 5 x 50 Robusto was chosen for this review. Said to be medium-bodied, the Merlion comes with a filler of Brazilian, Dominican, and Nicaraguan tobaccos, a Brazilian binder, and an Ecuadorian Corojo wrapper. The cigar looked great and its flavor was even better, making it worthy of a recommendation as an after-dinner smoke for both beginners and experienced smokers.
1. La Gloria Cubana Reserva Figurados Felicias Maduro Review and the 5 Vegas Cask-Strength II Review

Who’s the top dog of them all for 2012 on Puff.com? It’s the La Gloria Cubana Reserva Figurados Felicias Maduro Review and the 5 Vegas Cask-Strength II Review. The Reserva Figurados line from La Gloria Cubana was released in 2004 and features a filler of Dominican and Nicaraguan tobaccos, a Nicaraguan binder, and a Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro wrapper. A 4 7/8 x 49 Felicias was sampled in this review, and it delivered a stubby shape and a smoking time around 45 minutes. This cigars combination of flavors and small kick of pepper were good in a pinch. If you want a cigar for a quick smoke break, you can’t go wrong here.
The 5 Vegas Cask-Strength II was sampled in a 6 x 52 Toro format. Said to be one of the bolder lines from 5 Vegas, the Cask Strength II comes with a Peruvian and Nicaraguan filler, Dominican Corojo binder, and a Nicaraguan Corojo wrapper. When all was said and done, the Cask Strength II’s combination of a good burn, complexity, and peppery kick earned it a respectable rating.
