Irish Whiskey is not a heavily cased aromatic, it's leaves are quite dark, I would say if you already have an aromatic open, go with the Irish Oak, I didn't like it myself (IO)...I found it too much like cigarettes, that said you definitely can taste the sherry/grape from the barrels. The perique in the blend is also quite soft. I'm really happy with the Irish Whiskey, I'd heard some good reviews about it...and for me it fits with its Irish name.

Irish Oak really is all out on it's own...there's nothing else I've tasted like it, the closest is Old Joe Krantz and even that is very different.
