Mike - It depends a lot on the cigar. Think of it like wine. The bigger heavier ones could use more age, some of the lighter smokes like Ashton don't need as long.

I have some 10 month old Ashton Cabinets that are smoking nicely, I also have some Opus X that are 3 years old and are still not ready IMHO.

I am convinced that all cigars get better with some age, and once you get used to aged sticks everything else tastes like lawn clippings.

My suggestion would be to build up your collection, and over time you will have a nioce stock of cigars at different stages of development. Larry.
