Because my smoking is fairly erratic and irregular, I prefer to prepare a bowl just before I smoke. I'll often suddenly get the urge for something and so I don't like to wait for the tobacco to dry of its own accord.
I place the tobacco, rubbed out if it's a flake, on a sheet of tissue paper under a my desk lamp, occasionally checking on it to make sure it doesn't dry out too much. Once it reaches the appropriate level of moisture I simply load and smoke.
