Welcome Hash! Frenchy cleans his estate pipes so no problem there. As for filters, I don't use them. Beginner tobacco, I have heard guys use Carter Hall as a beginner smoke. The best bet would be for you to try the Newbie trade in WTS/B/T area of the Pipe smoking section. You will get a number of samples of fine tobaccos.
