Hello from Montreal! I was a lurker for about two weeks and joined on Monday. This looks like a great, warm and friendly community that I feel I want to be a part of.
My uncle got me started on cigars when I was sixteen. It was a small vanilla flavored cigarillo lol. I had my first real cigar about five months ago, I'm now 20. I visited ISOM with my girlfriend and from the hotel's LCDH I picked up some suggested cigars. I tried the Siglo II, Montecristo no. 2, and a Romeo Y Julietta Churchill. I got one hell of a buzz from the siglo, but loved the other two, more so the monte. I brought back 10 Monte no. 4s home and stored them in a ziploc inside a wine cooler my father has. I have been smoking the 10 overtime and finished my last one 2 weeks ago. I then found this site. I don't know the humidity that they were stored in, however I'm pretty sure they weren't stored properly because as time wore on, I found that they got drier and drier, and they were always pretty cold to the touch when I took them out of the bag. Up to now, I know mine weren't the best tasting, but I'm sure they were better then my girlfriend's fathers who kept his in the fridge and would rip off the ends with his fingers (as they were so dry) when he wanted to smoke one.
I guess we all have done newbie things. I am still definitely a newb, however many of my questions have been answered on here, and from recommendations I have read, I ordered my first humidor, lighter, cutter and a mixture of singles and samplers that should be here in a week's time! Thank god for the search! As some of you warn to watch out for the slope. I think I took my first baby steps down it and can see the treeline of the jungle. Nice to meet you all!
