Re: Reyes Family Premier Robusto Maduro

I recently had a few of the Reyes Family Premier Robustos as part of a blind taste test. Here's my notes:

Aesthetics – Almost rustic-looking, with a rough feel and look to the wrapper, several prominent veins and a slapped-on cap. Very lightweight and loosely filled.
Score: 7.8
Construction – The draw is effortless, like a tobacco straw. The burn is surprisingly good considering the poor rolling; it’s not dead-on straight, but not off enough to require any touch-ups. The ash is dry & flaky, & breaks in a way that leads me to believe this is a mixed filler cigar.
Score: 9.2
Flavor & Strength – Espresso, sugar & oak with a marshmallowy mouthfeel. Like a sweet espresso with whipped cream. It builds some in strength and flavors of woody floral as it progresses into the second half, but stays in the medium strength range and the flavors remain fairly consistent. A very pleasant and enjoyable smoke.
Score: 9.2
General Comments – You can’t tell a smoke by looking at the cover. I enjoyed these down to the nub, taking about 1-1/2 hours to finish. A good early evening sit-and-kick-back kind of a cigar that pairs well with bourbon on the rocks. Reminded me of a Fumadores (Don Pepin Garcia mixed-filler made for Holts).
