Re: Burning Feeling

usually when i smoke any predominantly cavendish blend the predominate flavor seems to be singed tongue. To me Cavendish tastes like air which usually makes me puff more/faster. i'd try smoking an english or a virginia or whatever you got, and try to just puff enough to keep it lit. Don't worry about it going out, thats part of pipe smoking. Instead just have as cool and tasty smoke as possible, the cooler you can keep the smoke, the better it will taste, and the more complexities you'll be able to pick up on. I'm pretty sure if you slow down your burnt mouth will go away. You are literally burning your mouth with hot smoke, so if you slow down after burning your mouth, it might still feel burnt. if you think you're going slow, and you still burn your mouth, you're not going slow enough.

Also if your pipes arn't broken in yet this can make your smoke a little hot. If they don't have a good cake, i've been told by the pros (madurofan) to smoke half bowls until you get one worked up.

I'm a perpetual overpuffer myself, you've got to try and slow it down and enjoy it.
