Camacho Corojo Nacionales Review

I bought a couple of these during the holidays because I was looking for a fairly inexpensive cigar that I could still enjoy with my brother-in-law (who doesn't smoke much). I didn't feel like spending a lot of cash for a cigar on someone who wouldn't be able to appreciate the difference. At any rate, I've had the figurado several times before and really like this cigar. Therefore, since I was looking for a shorter smoke, I figured I'd give this little cigar a try (5 1/2 x 44).

Soon after lighting up I was surprised by the full bodied flavor (with fairly strong pepper flavor) that really hit me fairly hard by surprise. The figurado has never resembled this kind of start to a smoke (perhaps because it's larger and doesn't smoke as hot). I was really looking forward to this smoke (since I hadn't had one in a few days) and I found myself becoming quite disappointed. However, I decided to stick it out, and I'm glad I did.

After about the first 10% of the smoke, it began mellowing out to the Camacho Corojo flavor that I've been accustomed to in the past. The construction was good as was the burn (for the most part). The ash was solid and held tight for about 2 inches before falling off.

I really like the flavor of these sticks. They're quite good medium bodied smokes for the money. Since I bought this at a tobacco shop, I paid more than what they can be purchased on-line. I paid $4.50 each, whereas on-line they can be had for a little less. For the money and enjoyment of the smoke, I intend to add more to my humi, besides that of the figurado.

One thing I did find interesting is that just out of curiosity, I checked top 25 to see what others have rated them and the Nacionales was rated in the mid 6 range whereas the petit (almost the same size) was rated in the low 8 range. I found that a little silly and it just reminded me how one really needs to read ratings and reviews cautiously without putting too much stock into them.

Bottom line - great med. bodied smoke for the money. I recommend!
