Review - Thompsons Brittany Vanilla

DATE: 2006/06/11
REVIEWER: Timothy "Texan_To_The_End" Piper
CIGAR: Thompson Brittany Vanilla
SIZE: 6.0 X 38
ORIGIN: Thompson's
WRAPPER: Thompson's
BINDER: Thompson's
FILLER: Thompson's
SHAPE: Corona
AGE: In my humidor for a week.
VENDOR: Gifted by RHarris. (Thanks again!)
PRICE: Unknown
AMBIENCE: A little after noon Sunday. Hot & humid and still air.
BEVERAGE: None
APPEARANCE: Lumpy veiny light colored wrapper.
PRE_LIGHT: Smelled like pipe tobacco.
DRAW: Draw was a bit tight but acceptable.
FIRST_THIRD: AACCKK!!! This thing is just waaaaaaay too sweet! The
vanilla is completely overwhelming. I've never had a
flavored cigar before, but this isn't really like a
cigar I don't think. Can't even taste any tobacco.
SECOND_THIRD: The cloying vanilla sweetness has caused me to break
out in a sweat, but I need to hold out at least until I
can taste the tobacco. Finally! And not worth the wait.
The tobacco was bland and flavorless and extremely similar
to a cigarette.
FINAL_THIRD: I couldn't take it any more! Had to lay it down.
BURN: It did burn well.
ASH: Firm white ash. (Surprising, but I guess something had
to be acceptable with this)
SMOKE: Put off quite a bit of smoke. (I did have to burn my
clothes afterwards, as the vanilla would not go away)
STRENGTH: No strength at all, except for vanilla.
FLAVOUR: Hmm, let's see... VANILLA!!!!
FINISH: VANILLA AGAIN!!!
SMOKE_TIME: 30 minutes was all I could stand.
IMPRESSION: Well, talk about taking one for the team... I've
had bad cigars before, but nothing quite as bad as this.
It was almost literally like drinking straight vanilla
extract. I really don't know how they can market these
as cigars at all...
RATING: 00 out of a possible TEN wooden matchsticks.
COMMENTS: Absolutely TERRIBLE!!! This is the first double zero
I've ever given a cigar. After brushing my teeth,
eating a bag of jalapeno chips, taking two showers and
drinking several cans of beer, I can STILL taste it!
