The technical term is "shill". Ebay strongly discourages shilling. The term does not appear on the CBid help page. Unlike Ebay, there's only one seller on Cbid.
One way to avoid being vulnerable to getting shilled is to use the
preferred Cbid protocol (use autobid to bid 75% of the asking price on CI). This way you're guaranteed of a deal if you win and you're guaranteed not to get hosed like our friend
