Distinguished Penguin.
I had put down the pipe and opted for the slippery slope cigars for the last few months. The other day she 'reminded' me about the pipe she so lovingly picked out for me that I don't even pick up anymore. So I am back to the pipe on the porch in the evenings. (which really isn't a bad thing, it will make the cigar supply last longer).
After months of a layoff, I found out a few new things.
1. My tastes have completley changed. I was almost exclusively an aromatic smoker. Now some of my stored aromatics have no flavor at all. I have been reaching for the English all week.
2. My pipes smoke better than I remember.
With that said, yesterday I was able to try a bowlful of distinguished penguin. This is a home/hearth blend from pipesandcigars.com. After the one bowlfull I now have 4oz on the way. It looks a lot like pencil shavings. Very very light and woody VA's with black specks of latikia sparsely mixed around. Flavor is really excellent, enough bite to let you know this is not an aromatic, but from the first puff you are hooked.
Only with Squadron Leader before have I had a tobacco and said, yep this is it, this is my blend.
Good to be back at the pipe forum.
