Looks to be quite a nice find, esp. after you've cleaned it up a bit, if that's you inkling. Let us know how it smokes, (the TRUE test of a pipe).

Thanks Scott. The gold band has RAOB engraved onto it and a series of hallmarks - I'll have to invest in a magnifying glass to see what they depict, as they might give a clue as to age. The RAOB - I think - stands for the Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes...so I'm guessing the original owner was a member of the Grand Lodge of England. The pipe case is pretty worn.
I'm certainly going to get it cleaned up and restored as far as I can and I'll certainly let you know how it smokes.
