I'd go with a cheapie corncob pipe. Typically, a good pipe will set you back at least $50 so you're going to want somehthing cheapie to see if you're going to enjoy your new hobby. Also, a corncob won't impart much of a flavor on the tobacco as some other pipes, which is a good thing untill you learn what makes a "good smoke" vs. a "bad smoke".
As far as your first tobacco I would recommend talking with a knoledgable tobcacconist. Since you're already doing the cigar thing I wouldn't worry too much about making sure your first blend is super mild. I made the mistake when I first started by gettings some of the absolutely mildest stuff and it really didn't taste like much of anything. Start with a nice aromatic that will have plenty of flavor and little bite. Pipe smoke tends to be a hotter smoke than a cigar, so you'll want something that won't leave a bad taste in your mouth (pun intended).
Other than that, just experiemnt. Get a lot of different blends to try out. The nice thing about pipes compared to cigars is that pipe tobacco is dirt cheap. Even tins of the expensive Dunhill English blends and the like doesn't compare to some of the cigars we smoke. It's the pipes that cost the money.
